EKO is an Italian producer of guitars (and other musical instruments), founded in 1959 and known for high quality – especially when it came to woodwork. In the latter half of the 20th century, their guitar factory in Recanati, Italy, was the largest in Europe.
Manufacturing has since moved to other European countries as well as Asia, though research and design continue to be done in Italy along with their Custom Guitar Shop which produces only about 100 instruments each year.
EKO electric guitars were very popular around the world in the 1960s and 1970s and are enjoying resurgence as a modern guitar for the 21st century. With an emphasis on value, new EKO electric guitars have a lot to offer both new and seasoned guitarists.
Also during the ‘60s and ‘70s, EKO manufactured the very popular Vox lineup of electric guitars that were popularized by groups such as the Rolling Stones, Paul Revere and the Raiders and many others. Now EKO is resurrecting the vintage Vox guitars such as the Phantom (now the EKO Ghost).
