Staying Busy (February 28, 2006) So again, months have gone by since I've written in this journal… I guess I'm just not much of a writer, sorry. I've been really busy creating new pieces, so that's good. In the last couple of months I've created a pretty wild guitar stand, a couple of lamps, several cremation urns (yes, cremation urns), and landed lots of other commission work. I've been getting quite a few orders on the guitar stand, which is cool. It's kind of getting me in the mood to start the guitar building again. Here are a few pics of some of my latest work. ![]() ![]() ![]() I've also been volunteering with one of the local art galleries and the community college. It's been a great way to meet a lot of local artists and try to help out too. After all these years of being an artist in one medium or another, I could never draw worth crap, so last year I took a drawing class and I actually got better. I still suck, but at least I'm better. Now, every Wednesday, I get together with several artists and we hire a model and draw for a few hours. It's helped me improve a lot. In fact, I've actually started showing my life drawings with my furniture and sculptures in exhibits now, so it's been fun. I've had so much going on that I still haven't had a chance to make much progress on the guitar project, but it'll happen when it's supposed to. |
