Gitane DG-300 John Jorgensen Signature Acoustic Guitar
Working with the "Modern Gypsy Swing Master," Gitane's luthiers have developed their first signature model guitar. Solid spruce top generates great midrange and sparkling highs while solid Brazilian rosewood sides and bookmatched back provide crisp definition. Mahogany neck and ebony fingerboard are shaped to Jorgensen's specs. Oval position markers, tortoise body binding, and tailpiece insert for a totally distinctive and luxurious look. [back to top] [back to quick navigation] The super-wide bridge, oval soundhole, and slotted head have a totally modern feel but were actually all found on Django Reinhardt's guitar of the 1930s. It's huge top with light bracing made possible by the long bridge was loud enough to be heard unamplified with his Quintet of the Hot Club of France. Select solid spruce top, longer scale length, and rosewood back and sides produce resonant, bright punch. Ebony body binding with triple maple/walnut purfling, mahogany neck with bound ebony fretboard, bone nut with zero fret, compensated moveable center on the bridge, nickel-plated open-geared tuners, adjustable truss rod, and trapeze tailpiece combine to make this a piece of jazz history brought to new, brilliant life. [back to top] [back to quick navigation] A faithful re-creation of a favorite rare original vintage Selmer guitar played by John Jorgenson. The DG-250M is crafted with a select solid spruce top with a beautiful bird's-eye maple back and sides; solid ebony body binding with maple/walnut/maple purfling on top and back; bound maple neck with a 21-fret ebony fingerboard marked with pearl position dots; and genuine bone nut with traditional zero fret. Other distinctive features include a dovetail neck joint; large body with oval soundhole surrounded with a delicate multi-ply rosette; solid peghead design; moustache bridge with a compensated, movable center; nickel-plated, open geared tuning machines with a 14:1 ratio; and a trapeze tailpiece."I took it with me to Samois...and it held its own in many a jam session, with a lead tone audible over as many as 8 ryhthm guitars all playing at once!" -- John Jorgenson [back to top] [back to quick navigation] All measurements and construction features were taken directly from a rare, original 1932 Selmer-Maccaferri guitar to create the most affordable, high-quality reproduction ever offered. The Gitane D-500 features a top of select solid spruce with rosewood back and sides and a thin, comfortable, bound mahogany neck with a 24-fret extension fingerboard of rosewood with pearl-dot position markers. The large D-shaped soundhole has concentric rings of multicolored wood purfling. The body is bound with solid ebony for durability and beauty with maple/walnut/maple purfling on all edges. The traditional Moustache bridge, also ebony, has a removable center section that is slotted for perfect intonation. Includes Gitane hardshell case. [back to top] [back to quick navigation] Oval soundhole, solid peghead, and longer 26-5/8" scale, when combined with the voluminous body and solid spruce top, produce more volume and depth than any other Maccaferri-style design. Lush appointments include solid ebony binding with maple/walnut/maple purfling on the top and back, mahogany neck with dovetail joint, bone nut with zero fret, moustache bridge with compensated center, and bound ebony fretboard.
