Megadeth: That One Night - Live in Buenos Aires

Megadeth will release a new DVD on March 6, 2007, entitled Megadeth: That One Night - Live in Buenos Aires. Though the metal mammoths haven’t lacked in the DVD and VHS release department, this new concert movie is inclusive, up-to-date, and rockin’. Fans won’t want to miss the electrifying and enthusiastic atmosphere purveyed by the band and the devoted Argentinean audience at Obras Stadium on the night of October 9, 2005.

The setlist is a fairly good representation of the band’s career, including three songs from their 2004 studio album, The System Has Failed. Recently coming off Gigantour 2006, those who saw the recent metal-fest will find the same incarnation on the DVD: Dave Mustaine on guitar and vocal, Glen Drover on guitar, James Lomenzo on bass, and Shawn Drover on drums.

With a raucous ‘Symphony Of Destruction’ setting the background atmosphere, Mustaine, seated in the back of a limousine, pronounces, "Very rarely do you play a concert where the fans will sing the guitar parts to you. That, to me, is stunning." He then goes on to say that he wants to go outside the hotel with an acoustic and let the fans sing along to some songs, which he subsequently does. The Argentinean admirers, who were waiting on the arrival of Mustaine and his crew, proceed to sit on the grass and partake in an unexpected sing-along of ‘In My Darkest Hour’. The scene then changes, showing 25,000 roaring devotees before the Megadeth stage as the band breaks into ‘Blackmail The Universe’. The viewer is then taken on a metal extravaganza of speed melody and brutal force for more than an hour and a half.

The audio and video quality of the concert footage is rather suitable throughout. The dual guitar attack possesses interesting stereophonic separation, heard raw yet clean and decipherable. That One Night - Live in Buenos Aires is an exhilarating addition to any Megadeth collection.
