Led Zeppelin Lifetime Achievement Award  (February 14, 2005)

I typically don't watch the Grammys because they usually leave me with an incredible empty feeling, but thought I'd check it out this year because I had read that Page and Jones would be accepting a Lifetime Achievement Award.

So, it was with total disappointment when I realized that this award was unceremoniously simply mentioned right before a commercial break, and there would be no big hoopla surrounding it. They simply "mentioned" it. And Led Zeppelin DEMANDS more than a mention. I didn't expect a live performance (Bonzo's death 25 years ago would have made that impossible), but the LEAST the Academy could have done would have been to put together a couple of minute retrospective of the band's career...heck, they could have taken the majority of footage from the recent Zep DVD.

When the presenter mentioned the award and gave what seemed like a two sentence description of Zep's impact, I was thinking "they'll be doing more on Zep when they return from commercial break" but that was it.

I think they should have shown more respect to the group that to many WERE the '70's...don't you?
