Led Zeppelin Lifetime Achievement Award (February 14, 2005) I typically don't watch the Grammys because they usually leave me with an incredible empty feeling, but thought I'd check it out this year because I had read that Page and Jones would be accepting a Lifetime Achievement Award. So, it was with total disappointment when I realized that this award was unceremoniously simply mentioned right before a commercial break, and there would be no big hoopla surrounding it. They simply "mentioned" it. And Led Zeppelin DEMANDS more than a mention. I didn't expect a live performance (Bonzo's death 25 years ago would have made that impossible), but the LEAST the Academy could have done would have been to put together a couple of minute retrospective of the band's career...heck, they could have taken the majority of footage from the recent Zep DVD. |
