Hello all! Welcome to my little corner of Modern Guitars! I first came across the site idly web trawling and spotted a few names I recognized - it seems like a nice place, lots of interesting info and fun views being exchanged - so it's a pleasure to take part!

I have my own website which I use to keep a journal of my gigging exploits, and I hope to use this site for some wider ranging ramblings... any topics in particular, they're all fair game! I think by their own nature, most of these will tend to be UK-biased, hopefully something interesting will appear for any international readers to be amused by!

First up, as I sit here at my computer, I think it appropriate I should offer an appreciation for the joys of broadband surfing. Since getting broadband back in 2000, a time when the internet was a small imp compared to the ogre it is today, my use of computers has changed hugely. It's now possible for me to access virtually any track by any artist, find the tablature for it, even transpose the chords on the fly (see www.chordie.com - a joy for those last minute dep moments!) - all within seconds of switching on the PC. How has this changed the life of a modern musician? Immensely! I am also intrinsically pretty lazy and I must say if I'm in my car in a last minute dash to a gig, trying to figure out a song from the stereo, it's much easier if I can tap into the net and get them there are then. Perfect... Perhaps these ears are lazier than they would have been had I been born 30 years earlier, but hey, modern tools for modern man!

Well, back to work, I intend to add more of these little driblet ramblings as I go on. Three cheers for modelling amps!

Take care,

Jules
