Guitar Autographed by Dimebag Darrell and Damageplan Auctioned  (January 17, 2005)
Radio station WBZX - 99.7 FM "The Blitz" - broadcasting from Columbus, Ohio, is hosting an auction for a Washburn "Dime V" guitar signed by all members of the group Damageplan, including the late Dimebag Darrell. Proceeds from the sale will be given to the families of Erin Halk and Nathan Bray, "...the 2 Columbus heroes that died that night trying to help others." More info.

"Dimebag" Darrell Abbott Killed by Gunman  (December 09, 2004)
Gunman Nathan Gale (25) shot and killed Abbott, better known by his stage name, "Dimebag Darrell" as Abbott was performing with his band, Damageplan, at a club in Colombus, Ohio. Gale was in turn shot and killed by police during the incident. Read story. Reuters coverage.
Pepé Music Releases 1977 Tracks with Prince on Guitar  (December 08, 2004)
Pepé Music, Inc., has released a CD by 94 East that features two tracks ("10:15" and "Fortune Teller") recorded in 1977 with Prince on guitar - Prince's earliest professional recordings.

According to the Belfast Telegraph, the company that administers the estate of Jimi Hendrix, Experience Hendrix, will release "hours" of previously unheard, unreleased, performances by Hendrix - enough material for regular releases over the next ten years, including several hours of concert film. John Mayer to Perform at Charity Auction  (December 03, 2004)
A charity auction to help raise money for Musicians On Call will be held on January 31, 2005, at Sotheby's auction house in NYC. John Mayer will perform an acoustic guitar set. The auction will feature guitars authographed by the likes of Mayer, Bruce Springsteen, Dave Matthews, Elvis Costello, and others.

Epiphone To Offer Paul McCartney Texans  (November 12, 2004)
August 14, 1965. Paul McCartney performs "Yesterday" on the Ed Sullivan Show playing an Epiphone model FT-79N, better known as a "Texan". Epiphone now plans on offering three runs of Texans based upon McCartney's guitar: 40 hand-built Epiphone Texans built by Gibson in the U.S. under the supervision of McCartney, a further 250 that will mirror-image McCartney's (lefty guitars set up for right-handed players) and a third run of Texans (1,964) to be hand-crafted in Japan. Malmsteen Auctions Stratocaster on eBay  (November 08, 2004)
According to www.yngwie.org, Yngwie Malmsteen will auction a "vintage" Fender Stratocaster on eBay. It's actually a 1996 Fender Stratocaster, not a vintage model (though setup to the same specifications as Malmsteen's 1972 "Duck/PLAY LOUD"). See the eBay auction.
