The 3rd Edition of the Montreal Guitar Show took place this past weekend from July 3rd to July 5th at the Palais des Congrès in downtown Montreal. Launched in 2007 by SIMM and Montreal International Jazz Fest organizers, the M.G.S. brings together the worlds greatest luthiers under one roof to exhibit their most prestigious and finest works. Godin Guitars was on hand showcasing their finely crafted and innovative Passion RG-3 guitars to much fanfare.

In the newly allocated M.G.S. electric guitar room, visitors could find both Godin Passion RG-3 guitars on display, which include the Natural Mahogany RN and Natural Flame MN. Guitar enthusiasts were able to see and test out these exquisite instruments, as well as speak with Robert Godin and head guitar designer Daniel Fiocco, who were both on hand to explain the “ins & outs” of the Passion RG-3. “These are truly a dream come true for the single-coil lover”, says Robert Godin, who has spent years developing these guitars and in the process, was able to reach new heights in craftsmanship and innovation.

From the selection of superior tone woods, to the high level of performance of the Godin GS-3 single-coil pickups to the Gotoh 510 staggered locking tuners, the Passion RG-3 goes above and beyond what a player can expect from a traditional single-coil guitar. It features the finest of details such as the hand shaped inlay pickguard, real wood back plates, stainless steel bridge saddles, highly polished medium jumbo frets and synchronized resonance chambers in the body, making these models extremely resonant and dynamic as well as very lightweight. These guitars represent a culmination of Robert Godin’s hands on expertise, vision and dedication to innovation and above all…his Passion for guitar building.

Also at the Montreal Guitar Show, as part of the “Guitarissimo Series”, was a concert by longtime Seagull endorsee Peppino D’Agostino. The acoustic fingerstyle master was happily surprised and honored before his performance by Patrick Godin, Mario Biferali and Simon Godin of Godin Guitars, who presented him the award from Acoustic Guitar magazine which was bestowed upon Godin guitars for “Acoustic Guitar of the Year” for the Seagull Artist Peppino D’Agostino Signature model. “This guitar was a collaborative effort between Seagull guitars and Peppino D’Agostino, and the guitar being his signature model we wanted to celebrate this guitar by surprising him with this award,” says Godin’s Marketing & Sales Manager Mario Biferali.
