June 17, 2009Paul Reed Smith Guitars and Chevrolet Partner for a Rockin’ Summer PromotionPress release “Win Dale Jr’s Camaro” is the newest chapter in the long-standing Chevy/PRS relationship. Rolled out last Thursday, the promotion’s grand prize not only includes an All New Camaro, but also a trip for two to the Chevy Rock & Roll 400 at Richmond International Raceway where the winner will have the chance to meet Dale Earnhardt Jr. and receive their new PRS Silver Sparkle Starla guitar autographed by Dale Jr. and Paul Reed Smith. The Starla and All New Camaro are classic American designs. With reviews hailing: “The Starla is simply badass” and "Chevy’s new two-door is…very good. Very, very, very, good,” these products are clearly winning over the hearts and hands of those who handle them. The Starla being offered as part of this spectacular prize package features a new finish for PRS—Silver Sparkle—which gives this already classic guitar a new vibe. Other unique appointments include a standard Bigsby B5 tail piece, a Grover Tune-O-Matic bridge, dot inlays, and exclusive Starla Treble and Bass pickups featuring proprietary Alnico magnets that contribute to the guitar’s unique clean and crisp sound but are also capable of rich harmonic overtones when driven. The promotion will culminate at the Chevy Rock and Roll 400, the last race before the chase, on September 12, 2009 at Richmond International Raceway. In addition to supporting the Dale Jr promotion, PRS will also be on-site to deliver the custom-built PRS/Chevy themed Rock & Roll 400 trophy. With an estimated retail value of more than $30,000, this trophy ranks among the most valuable trophies in racing. It can take up to three months to complete, averages four feet tall, contains approximately 35 pounds of polished aluminum, and holds a fully functional Paul Reed Smith electric guitar. Each year, paint codes are received from Chevrolet to ensure the guitar is painted to exactly match the pace car of the race. 2009 marks the fourth year that PRS has created the trophy for NASCAR’s Chevy Rock & Roll 400 Cup Race. “To us, Chevy and PRS have always made a great team: American manufacturers focused on designing and building-high performance, high quality products,” PRS Guitars’ President Jack Higginbotham said. “We are proud to continue the partnership by joining this promotion.” The promotion runs until August 17, 2009.
