CD Giveaway: "United States" by Paul Gilbert and Freddie Nelson

Modern Guitars has three copies of the the new Paul Gilbert and Freddie Nelson CD, United States, to giveaway to lucky readers on June 30, 2009. Shredder Paul Gilbert, who has been named one of the top 10 fastest guitar players by Guitar One magazine, collaborated with vocalist and guitarist Freddie Nelson on United States, which features ten rampaging rock 'n' roll tracks, including: "Paris Hilton Look-ALike," "The Last Rock and Roll Star," "Girl from Omaha," and "I'm Not Addicted." While Nelson takes center stage as the CD's vocalist, Gilbert gives his all with clean sweeps and driving and sometimes frantic leads, giving fans a high energy fix.

Gilbert, who came to the attention of Mike Varney and Shrapnel Records in the early '80s, is well known for his work with Racer X, Mr. Big and the 2007 G3 tour with Joe Satriani and John Petrucci. A Pittsburgh native, Nelson came up through the ranks primarily as a self-taught guitarist though he has also developed a following for his singing, songwriting and production abilities and as a member of Too Tall Jones. Gilbert and Nelson came together a couple of years ago after Dan Parise shared some of Nelson's recent work with Gilbert. Though the two are joined by Emi Gilbert (keyboards) and Matt "Muck" Muckle (drums) on United States, it's essentially a duo project.
