Mascot Records will release a new studio album, To The Core, by instrumental rock guitarist Vinnie Moore on May 18, 2009, in Europe and May 26 in the United States. The album's 11 tracks feature Moore on his Dean VM-2000 signature guitar (and its ShredHead humbucker) with Van Romaine (drums), John "JD" Deservio (Black Label Socieity) (bass) and Tim Lehner (keyboards). Moore, another Mike Varney alumnus discovered via Varney's Spotlight column in Guitar Player, recorded his 1986 debut release, Mind's Eye, on Varney's Shrapnel label and To The Core represents Moore's first solo studio album since 2001's Defying Gravity (Shrapnel).

Though associated with British hard rockers UFO (since 2003) both on tour and in the studio, Moore has also toured and recorded with Alice Cooper and toured with T.M. Stevens' band. He performs on the UFO albums You Are Here (2004), Showtime (2005) (album and DVD), The Monkey Puzzle (2006) and The Visitor, UFO's 20th album scheduled for release later this year, all on SPV Records. A complete Vinnie Moore discography can be found on his website.

Recorded at The Core studio in northern California, the various styles heard on To The Core are united by a single element: Vinnie Moore's guitar. Says Moore, "The only plan I had when making this record was to do some things I have never done before. I am into many types of music and wanted to make a record where I could just let it all pour out without limitations. I am basically a rock guy but all these other influences filter into my music. You can hear many styles from an R&B/Hip Hop vibe to one that is heavy but has an Indian vibe with lots of exotic percussion. I even have a couple tunes with techno elements, some funk, some blues and some bepop. Hell, there is even some motorcycles on it and I even played slide guitar on "Jigsaw" which is fairly new for me. The common thread that ties it all together is probably the fact that it's me playing guitar through it all."
