Gibson Jeff Beck Oxblood Limited Edition Les Paul Guitar Hits the Road

Gibson Guitar and instrument retailer Sam Ash have announced that starting April 15, 2009, the companies will present in-store displays highlighting the upcoming Gibson Custom Jeff Beck Oxblood Limited Edition Les Paul guitar and various Gibson Les Paul 50th Anniversary models in conjunction with clinics featuring information about special Gibson and Epiphone guitar tricks, performances by Gibson clinicians, information about instrument care and maintenance, and "interactive sessions with trend-setting guitarists who have played on stages around the world" (per Gibson). The Gibson tour bus will be on hand at each location and event visitors will have a chance to win an Epiphone Alley Kat archtop guitar, with the first 50 guests at each store qualifying for a free string change and care session by a certified Gibson/Epiphone specialist.

Gibson Custom will produce 150 of the Gibson Custom Jeff Beck 1954 Les Paul Oxblood Limited Edition. The first 50 will be aged to look like Beck's original and will be signed, numbered and played by Jeff Beck. The remaining 100 will have Gibson Custom's V.O.S. finish. The Gibson website quotes a MSRP of $8,235 for the Gibson Custom Jeff Beck 1954 Les Paul Oxblood Limited Edition, but it's not clear from the web page if that price applies to the entire run of 150, the first 50, or the subsequent 100. According to Gibson, "...the new Jeff Beck Oxblood Les Paul from Gibson Custom leaves nothing to chance. It is simply one of the most exact replicas of any historic guitar ever produced by the master craftsmen at Gibson Custom," which will include a custom neck profile modeled after the original instrument.
