On Saturday, April 4, 2009, guitarist Jeff Beck will be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame by fellow Yardbirds alumnus Jimmy Page (Eric Clapton rounds out the Yardbirds notable guitarist triumverate). This year's ceremony takes place in Cleveland, Ohio, home of the Hall, instead of New York's Waldorf Astoria and is open to fans as well as music industry A listers. Those unable to attend can watch the ceremony's online simulcast via www.fuse.tv, which includes the induction of Metallica and its guitarists Kirk Hammett and James Hetfield.

Other Jeff Beck news includes the release this week of the DVD and Blu-ray version of 2008's CD, Jeff Beck: Performing This Week...Live At Ronnie Scott's. The DVD/Blu-ray version contains additional material such as guest appearances by Eric Clapton, Joss Stone and Imogen Heap. And speaking of Jimmy Page, he appears in the nightclub audience. The material was shot in 2007 at Ronnie Scott's with the lineup of Jeff Beck (guitar), Tal Wilkenfeld (bass), Jason Rebello (keyboards) and Vinnie Colaiuta (drums). The material includes Jeff Beck classics such as "Beck's Bolero," "Cause We've Ended As Lovers" and "Led Boots." For more information, see Brian D. Holland's review, which includes a video clip of "Angel (Footsteps)."

Then on Monday, April 6, Beck kicks off the United States leg of a 2009 world tour with a performance at the Scranton Cultural Center in Scranton, Pennsylvania, followed by 12 more concerts throughout April in cities across the U.S. The group, which is the same lineup that performs on the new DVD, is scheduled for appearances in Europe this summer. Visit www.jeffbeck.com for more 2009 tour information.
