June 19, 2008John Mayer's Busy Summer - New Album/DVD and Tourby Staff.
The material, filmed and recorded at the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles in December of 2007, provides an overview of Mayer's recording career to-date. The trio set consists of Mayer, Steve Jordan (drums) and Pino Palladino (bass), the mix that toured as The John Mayer Trio and recorded the live blues-rock album Try! in 2005, which was nominated for Best Rock Album at the 49th Annual Grammy Awards. The full band set is a reflection of Mayer's 2006 Grammy-winning album, Continuum, and the five-track acoustic set showcases the singer-songwriter Mayer. This summer also finds Mayer on tour starting July 2 in Milawaukee, Wisconsin, with special guests Colbie Caillat and Brett Dennen, and ending August 2 in Houston, Texas. Additional dates follow in August with Paramore (Riot!) and OneRepublic (Dreaming Out Loud). Currently scheduled dates for both tour legs are below. John Mayer, featured on the cover of Rolling Stone's "guitar" issue for two years running, is a musician worth getting to know and Where The Light Is serves as an excellent introduction.
