It's A Shame About Ray

It's A Shame About Ray

It’s A Shame About Ray will be named Classic Album at the U.S. leg of the NME Awards. Evan Dando, founder and leader of The Lemonheads, will be present at the awards to receive the accolade and will perform two songs from the album live at the event. The NME Awards will be held Wednesday, April 23 at the El Rey Theater in Los Angeles at 9 p.m. PT and will be streamed live on Myspace.com.

NME Editor In Chief Conor McNicholas said: “This is an award voted by the editors of NME to give due appreciation to works of integrity and originality which have had a significant influence over the alternative music scene we all love. It is entirely fitting that The Lemonheads’ It’s A Shame About Ray should be our inaugural choice. It is an album of great charm and warmth that stands the test of time and you can hear echoes of Ray in loads of the great new music being made today.“We are very excited about Evan Dando agreeing to perform at our Awards and are honoured to be given this opportunity to celebrate the sheer brilliance of It’s A Shame About Ray.”

The Lemonheads’ It’s A Shame About Ray is the band’s fifth album and was originally released in by Atlantic Records in 1992. A Collector's Edition of the album was recently released by Rhino and features previously unreleased demos as well as a DVD.
