Noted jazz guitarist Stanley Jordan will serve as a keynote speaker at the Global Sound Conference, Marina del Rey, California (May 9 – 12, 2008), and shed light on his ideas about the healing powers of sound. Jordan is a graduate student at Arizona State University pursuing a Master degree in music therapy. Known for his two-hand tapping technique, over his career Stanley Jordan has released a number of well-received jazz fusion albums, including Magic Touch (1985); Standards, Vol. 1 (1986); Flying Home (1988); Bolero (1994); and Dreams of Peace (2003).

The Global Sound Conference, now in its second year, will offer seminars with the world’s top sound researchers, technologists and musicians for a four-day symposium. The seminar leaders and participants will review the various ways that sound affects our lives from medical, emotional and spiritual perspectives.

Along with Stanley Jordan, guest speakers will include Alan Howarth (The Spiderwick Chronicles), Don Campbell, author of The Mozart Effect and psychoacoustic expert and Through a Dog’s Ear author Joshua Leads.

Entertainment during the Conference’s evening concerts feature musical luminaries Sheila Chandra, Yungchen Lhamo, Rickie Byars Beckwith with the Agape International Choir and others.
