Representatives of the three charities that benefitted from last year's Gibson Guitar's Gibson Foundation GuitarTown London campaign were on hand at Gibson's London showroom on February 19 for a check presentation ceremony in which the roughly 200,000 pounds (approximately $400,000 USD) generated by the GuitarTown effort was divided among the three organizations: The Prince’s Trust, Nordoff-Robbins Music Therapy and the Teenage Cancer Trust. The donated funds are the result of last November's GuitarTown London charity auction in which 60 individually hand-painted and celebrity-signed 10-foot Gibson Les Paul replica guitars and regular-sized Gibson SG guitars were sold at a gala auction event at the IndigO2 club in London's O2 venue. Participating celebrities included Sir Paul McCartney, Ronnie Wood, Paul Weller, Noel Gallagher, Rod Stewart, Robert Plant, Jimmy Page, Gary Moore, Mark Knopfler, Slash, Brian May, Ozzy Osbourne, Kaiser Chiefs, New Order, Kasabian, KT Tunstall, Depeche Mode, James Blunt, Roger Waters, and many others.

The visual artists who hand-painted the guitars and collaborated with the musicians included Sir Peter Blake, Gerald Scarfe, Anton Corbijn, Rosie Brooks, Andrew Logan, Peter Saville, Mike Cahillane, Pete McKee, Mark Eurich, Mel A, Alex Echo, Paul Hart and inmates of HM Pentonville Prison to name a few. All of the guitars were on public display between June and September 2007 on London’s South Bank at More London Riverside by City Hall and inside The O2 Arena in Greenwich.
