Author Tom Wheeler, Carlos Santana, Paul Reed Smith and many other gifted PRS artists assembled for the unveiling of 12 new PRS models, including the new Santana MD signature model, on Friday, January 18 during PRS Guitars’ NAMM trade show press conference in Anaheim, California. Tom Wheeler was the master of ceremonies and spoke at length about the dawning of a new era for PRS guitars and the quality and new sound of their instruments. The legendary Carlos Santana, Mike Mushok (Staind) and David Grissom (Storyville/John Mellencamp) all spoke eloquently in support of PRS, their signature models and how much they rely on their instruments to make a living. Other PRS artists attending included Rich Eckhardt (Toby Keith), Howard Leese, Pat Travers, Mike Scott (Justin Timberlake), Frank Romano (Usher), Johnny Hiland, Paul Jackson, Jr. and Evan Taubenfeld (Avril Lavigne).

Santana introduced the very latest PRS signature model, the Santana MD, and its "multi-dimensional" Voice Control. Also shared was Santana’s appreciation of Paul Smith’s “vision of sound.” Santana said, “Sound and tone are everything. Sounds, resonance, vibrations…these are our tools. With these tools we get to give people chills. [PRS] guitars allow us to do that unconsciously; we don’t have to think about it.”

David Grissom further applauded PRS Guitars and Paul Reed Smith by sharing that PRS Guitars helped him develop his own voice and his own approach to electric guitar. “PRS is making the best instruments they’ve ever made,” said Grissom. The David Grissom Trem (DGT) is a collaboration of more than 20 years of idea sharing between Paul Smith and Grissom.

The newest member of the PRS family, Mike Mushok, of the multi-platinum alternative metal band Staind, discussed how happy he with his very first PRS signature model, the SE Baritone, and how he has always been very fond PRS Guitars.
