Care Bears on Fire

Care Bears on Fire

The beginning of a new year means the beginning of a lot of exciting new music and concerts, and Daisy Rock is pleased to bring news of new stars Care Bears on Fire. As most great stories go - Care Bears on Fire began with a trio of stars jamming in the basement and writing songs for fun. It wasn’t long before the then 10 year olds realized that their punk-meets-garage sound might be something worth sharing with the world, and the tweens banded together to start grooving for the masses.

CBOF is composed of Sophie, age 12, on lead vocals and guitar, Lucio, age 13, on bass, and Izzy, age 12, on drums. Their image is summed up well by Spin magazine: “With their blasé vocals and two chord vamps, this trio are old-school classicists dressed up in itty bitty Chuck Taylors. Grumpy Bear might not be happy, but our ears are.”

If their first EP “Confuse Me” (Beautiful Records, 2006) established them as part of a new breed of rock ‘n roll youth, their debut album release I Stole Your Animal (Daisy Explosion Records, 2007) pushes them to the front of the pack. Just to make it official, Nylon anointed CBOF as one of the best New York new bands in its June International Music Issue and proclaimed them gifted with “...a confidence and ease on stage that most performers achieve only after countless gigs...”

Described as both “the love children of Joan Jett and Richard Hell” by Metromix and “the wiseass kid siblings of Bad Brains” by The Miami New Times, CBOF have become favorites on the New York club scene, winning over even the most jaded hipsters with their authentic punk spirit and songs that capture the essence of attitude and humor required of being a kid in 2008. Today, tunes like “Met You on MySpace,” “Five Minutes Boyfriend,” and their first single, “Everybody Else,” are finding their way onto college and indie radio playlists across the country. In the past year, CBOF has been featured on NPR, been splashed on the front page of USA Today, and lead singer Sophie found her way onto a feature spot on Converse’s acclaimed Three Chord commercial playing an unplugged version of “Everybody Else.”

“Nanananananana, don’t want to be like everybody else…” read their lyrics. They sure have found a home with Daisy Rock!

Care Bears on Fire is slated to perform at Safari Sam’s on January, 18 at 8 p.m. They will also make an appearance at NAMM on January 20 performing on the Convention Lobby Stage at 2 p.m. with a CD signing immediately following in the Daisy Rock booth.
