Good Things Come in Small Packages with Guitar Replicas

It's that time of year: What to get the hard-to-buy-for guitar lover without making a major investment. If the guitar lovers on your list happen to be Fender Stratocaster, Telecaster, Jazz Bass or Precision Bass fans, a die-cast company called GMP may have the answers. GMP, based in Georgia (U.S.), makes a line of officially licensed 1:3-scale guitar replicas that feature a real wood neck contoured to match the replicated guitar, an accurately contoured die-cast body, wood grain details, moveable pickup selector switch, volume and tone controls, accurately scaled steel strings and a moveable tremolo arm (Stratocaster model only).

There are nine replicas to choose from: Stratocaster in red, black or sunburst; Telecaster in red, sunburst or butterscotch blonde; Jazz Bass in black or sunburst; and Precision Bass in olympic white. Each mini-guitar comes with a display stand, wall mount and full-color collector's box.

The manufacturer has created these replicas with an eye for detail. The Stratocaster, for example, sports a replicated bone nut, headstock (which is real wood) string guide, realistic headstock logo, strings are wrapped around the tuning pegs, real metal hardware pickup and pickguard (which is beveled) screws, accurately spaced frets and dots, and a chrome output jack with lock washer.
