Daryl Hall, of Daryl Hall and John Oates, the best-selling music duo of all time, will give a brief performance at Unmask a Cure, Turn the Corner Foundation's Second Annual Fundraising Gala at Guastavino's in New York City, Thursday evening, November 1, 2007 from 6-10 p.m.

The event will help benefit research and education for Lyme disease and other tick-borne illnesses. Hall announced two years ago that he suffered from the ailment and had dedicated himself to educating the public about the disease, with only one out of ten cases documented. President George W. Bush also recently revealed that he had contracted the disease, after keeping the news quiet for a year.

"Contracting Lyme disease is nothing to be ashamed of," said Hall, who will also participate in a Q&A with the audience during the evening. "Many people aren't even aware they're suffering from it. The more attention we can draw to the symptoms, and the more research we can conduct towards its cure, the more we can alleviate some of the suffering and misunderstanding of the disease among the public."

Hall will perform a solo set with his longtime collaborator T-Bone Wolk , including a brand-new song, "The Ballad of the Deer Tic," penned by his own doctor, Richard I. Horowitz, who will be honored by Turn The Corner as its 2007 Humanitarian Award recipient. Bruce E. Mosler will be presented with the 2007 Spirit of Philanthropy Award, while Dr. Nick S. Harris will receive the 2007 Scientific Merit Award. Silent and live auctions will also be conducted.

Turn the Corner Foundation is a non-profit public charity dedicated to the support of research, education, awareness and innovative treatments for Lyme disease and other tic-borne diseases.

Advance tickets are on sale online for $200 before October 26, with any remaining tickets for $250 at the door. Guastavino’s is located at 409 East 59th Street in New York City.
