Dutch platinum rockers Racoon will follow up the October 2, 2007, stateside release of their album, Another Day, by hitting the road with the Lemonheads, beginning November 30 in San Francisco and concluding December 22 in Cambridge, MA. The first single, “Close Your Eyes,” is currently being promoted at Triple A radio.

The 19 dates represents the first time Racoon will tour in the U.S. after appearing in Austin at the 2006 South by Southwest, but have played extensively in their native Holland, Belgium, Germany and the U.K.

“Playing in America has always been one of our goals,” says lead singer Bart van der Weide, who formed the band in the tiny village of Goes almost 10 years ago with guitarist Dennis Huige, bassist Stefan de Kroon and drummer Paul Bukkens. “And as a big fan of Evan Dando, it’s an honor to be playing with the Lemonheads.”

Another Day, the band’s third album and first for indie label PIAS (Play It Again Sam) after two for Sony BMG, was a huge breakthrough, spawning the hit single, “Love You More,” and going platinum in Holland, where it sold more than 120,000 copies.

The band has already been receiving kudos for their album in the U.S.

Buzzine raved: “Racoon is rapturous, with pure acoustic-based pop for now people. Highly recommended especially for fans of Squeeze, Crowded House, The Jayhawks, Golden Smog, The Odds, and more… your pop fix will be fulfilled for quite some time.”

Giving it an eight out of 10, Music Connection raved: “Definitely a great band to discover.”

Following in the tradition of Duch pop stars such as Golden Earring, Shocking Blue, Bettie Serveert, Herman Brood, Gruppo Sportivo, Urban Dance Squad and world-renowned DJ Tiesto, Raccoon is ready to tackle the States.

“If the opportunity for success in America arises, we’ll do our best to make it possible. All I know is we’ll have a great time trying to make it happen.”
