New Album, 'Colors' from Steve Allee Trio Due August 28

Press release
Source: Michael Bloom Media Relations

Composer and world-class pianist Steve Allee proudly presents his newest musical gift, Colors. This CD is his fifth -- and the first trio album, featuring the amazing chemistry between Steve and the versatile and masterful accompaniment of bassist Bill Moring (Mulgrew Miller, Chris Potter) and drummer Tim Horner (Maria Schneider & Village Vanguard Orchestras).

Allee was influenced, musically, by his world travels absorbing the Colors, sights and smells from France to Belize, the Bahamas to Brazil. This is evident as his music weaves a tonal tapestry that is both stimulating and intoxicating.

About Steve Allee: Pianist, Composer, and Arranger
Steve hails from Indianapolis, Indiana, the hometown of jazz legends Wes Montgomery, Freddie Hubbard, Slide Hampton, and J.J. Johnson. Touring with the Buddy Rich Orchestra at age 19, Steve's passion for the piano, and jazz, were evident to audiences and all who performed with him.

Steve's big band CD, Downtown Blues, was nominated for a Grammy award. His first national solo CD, The Magic Hour, released on Noteworthy Records, landed at #14 on the Gavin national radio poll. His writing credits include composing the soundtrack for the film inspired by the book by Dan Wakefield titled, New York In The Fifties. He presented the original music for the film at The Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland. Steve recently completed the soundtrack for the film about the 1954-55 Crispus Attucks High School (Indianapolis) basketball team, Something To Cheer About, starring Oscar Robertson.
