2007 Monterey Blues Festival Photo Gallery

The Monterey Blues Festival, June 22 - 24, 2007, was a guitar lover’s dream. Held at the Monterey Fair Grounds in Monterey, California (that’s right, the same venue as the famous Monterey Jazz Festival), the three-day event was a great bargain with three stages filled with some of the greatest living blues artists and some hot new up and coming acts.

I only had a chance to attend one of the days (June 23) and it was a struggle running from stage to stage to enjoy as many of the artists as possible. The artists played concurrently so I literally ran from stage to stage.

And the worst part (or maybe it was the best part), happened when I couldn’t decide at which stage to stay because I liked what I was hearing at all of them. Can you imagine trying to figure out how to divide your time with the likes of Buddy Guy, Alvon Johnson, Ike Woods, Big Mo, Zac Harmon, JC Smith, Dennis Murphy, EG Knight, Karen Tyler, Gregg Wright, and Shane Dwight spread a short shotgun distance between one another and all blowing the best blues you're likely to hear this summer - and those were just the guitarists.
