2007 Summer NAMM Guitar Preview: Fender, Martin, Taylor, Peavey

While the doors to the 2007 Summer NAMM Show don't open until later today when the music instrument trade show kicks-off in Austin, Texas, where it runs through Sunday, July 29, guitar makers Fender, Martin, Taylor, and Peavey provide attendees a sneak peak at some of the new models they will spotlight this weekend. 2007 marks the second year the summer trade show has convened in Austin, the self-proclaimed "live music capital of the world", at the Austin Convention Center.

Martin Guitar will introduce several new models, including Signature models, a limited edition, and stock models. Featured among the new Signature names are Travis Tritt, Robbie Robertson, Stephen Stills, and, the Kingston Trio. The 000X Hippie Limited Edition commemorates the 40th anniversary of the Summer of Love. Among the new stock models to be introduced at Summer NAMM are the OM Negative, OM-28 Marquis Madagascar, D-28 Marquis Madagascar, D-42 Cambodian Rosewood, MC Adirondack 1, M-36 Grand Auditorium, DCX1E Tawny Satinwood, DCE Black, and the Martin OMCRE that features Babicz Design’s patented “Continually Adjustable Neck,” invented by company founder Jeff Babicz.

Fender plans to spotlight a limited edition John Mayer Stratocaster, a Joe Strummer Telecaster, a Jim Root Telecaster, the J Mascis Jazzmaster, and the VG Stratocaster. A limited edition Eric Clapton Crossroads Guitar Festival Stratocaster, also known as the Sun Strat, will also be on display at Fender's booth.

Taylor Guitars is set to unveil a number of models from two Taylor lines, the Fall Limited Editions, which this year features, among others, a Limited Edition T5 that is the first all-maple guitar from Taylor; and, the Koa Series, which is back due to Taylor Guitars having found a new source for tropical Koa tonewood.

And, Peavey will reveal its new online Custom Shop website interface that lets Peavey customers design the graphics for a new Custom Shop guitar through their browser. Peavey will also display the Limited Edition Orange County Choppers guitar.
