Joe Bonamassa to Tour UK and Release New Album in August

While fans anticipate the August 29, 2007, release of Joe Bonamassa's (interview) seventh solo album, Sloe Gin, Joe continues this year's touring schedule with five dates in the United Kingdom starting August 1 at the Falmouth Princess Pavilion. Sloe Gin extends the collaboration between Bonamassa and producer Kevin Shirley (Joe Satriani, Black Crowes, Aerosmith, Led Zeppelin) that began with 2006's You and Me that debuted at #1 on Billboard's blues chart. "Sloe Gin is different than anything I’ve ever done before. I know we bettered You and Me," says Bonamassa. "It’s unbelievable, he [Shirley] takes my vision, augments it, and brings it further than I ever would have thought to." It was Shirley who brought the over eight-minute long title track, "Sloe Gin", a song written by Bob Ezrin and Michael Kamen that appeared on Tim Curry's 1978 solo debut, to the project. “I never would have found that one on my own,” says Joe, “or gone where Kevin went with it. I really owe that whole sound to him.”

Anticipation for Sloe Gin is warranted if, as Bonamassa says, it betters You and Me that contains strong material such as the Jeff Beck-flavored tribute to Django Reinhardt, "Django", the "High Water Everywhere" nod to New Orleans, the Otis Rush classic, "So Many Roads", and Bonamassa's 10-minute guitar solo on "Tea For One" that features a full orchestra and Jason Bonham playing drums on a song originally recorded by Led Zeppelin.

Odds are that Bonamassa will include songs from both You and Me and Sloe Gin in the upcoming UK shows (listed below) as he's performed several tracks from Sloe Gin, such as "Sloe Gin", "Another Kind of Love", and, "Ball Peen Hammer" on recent tour dates.
