Life in Reverse

Life in Reverse

In 1980, Any Trouble were at the flashpoint of a new era of new wave. Twenty-three years later, they've reformed their original line-up and re-signed to their original label - the recently-revitalised and always- notorious Stiff Records - to deliver their best album yet.

Four albums and four years into the '80s, Any Trouble split up with lead singer Clive Gregson becoming an in-demand songwriter both in his own right (recording several albums with Christine Collister) and for the likes of Mary Chapin Carpenter, Kim Carnes, Nanci Griffith (2006's BBC Radio 2 A-listed I Love This Town) and Fairport Convention.

Life in Reverse reunites Any Trouble with their original producer, John Wood (Nick Drake, Pink Floyd, Nico). Another Stiff veteran, Nigel Dick, directs a video for the album's lead track. Dick's credits as a promo director include "Wonderwall" by Oasis, "Paradise City" by Guns N Roses and "Baby One More Time" by Britney Spears.

This new album follows hot on the heels of March 07's expanded reissue of the band's Stiff debut - Where Are All The Nice Girls? - "a real treat" according to Phill Jupitus on 6 Music and "fantastic" according to BBC Radio Merseyside's Juke Box Jury. It scored **** in Record Collector who loved the "ever-so-catchy singalongs with hook-laden choruses" and **** in the Nottingham Evening Post who pointed out that "you wouldn't be surprised to see" some tracks "on Maximo Park's next album." In the US, The Onion loved its "sharp songwriting and stirring performances."

UK tour dates are also set to be announced soon.
