Mike Stern and Anthony Jackson to Hold Free Masterclass

On July 13, 2007, the Institute of Contemporary Music in London will host a playing and performance Masterclass featuring guitarist Mike Stern (photo) (interview), electric bassist Anthony Jackson, and the Institute's Justin Scott. The event takes place from 1-3 p.m. and is both open to the public and free of charge, though available seating is limited and priority will be given to students of the Institute. At the age of 22, guitarist Mike Stern joined Blood, Sweat & Tears before serving a stint with Miles Davis. Stern's solo career has seen four Grammy nominations, extensive recording and touring projects, and numerous collaborations with jazz greats such as Jaco Pastorius, Richard Boner, Anthony Jackson, Dave Weckl, Denis Chambers, Steve Jordan, David Sanborn, Ron Carter and Jack DeJohnette.

Electric bassist Anthony Jackson, father of the six-string electric contrbass, has worked with a virtual who's who of contemporary music, including Paul Simon, Buddy Rich, Chick Corea, Steely Dan, Donald Fagen, Chaka Khan, Lee Ritenour and Al Di Meola.
