A global TV audience of more than 500 million people in 140 countries watched Sir Elton John and Joss Stone headline the Concert for Diana on Sunday 1st July 2007.

More then 60,000 people attended the concert at the newly revamped Wembley Stadium which was hosted and curated by Princes William and Harry in memory of their mother. Sir Elton John, Lily Allen, Rod Stewart, Tom Jones, Fergie and Take That were among some of the acts to perform on the day which would have been Diana’s 46th birthday.

The event saw Tom Jones performing a cover of Arctic Monkeys' "I Bet You Look Good On The Dancefloor" with Aerosmith’s Joe Perry, Lily Allen performed her hits "LDN" and "Smile", and Kanye West performing singles "Jesus Walks", "Gold Digger" and "Touch The Sky". P Diddy told the assembled audience, “10 years ago Princess Diana went to a better place. Today we celebrate her rebirth," before performing "I’ll Be Missing You".

HRH Prince William said: “We wanted to have this big concert…full of energy, full of the sort of fun and happiness which I know she would have wanted. And on her birthday as well, it’s got to be the best birthday present she ever had.”

Other performers included Pharrell Williams, The Feeling, James Morrison, Duran Duran, Will Young, Status Quo and the English National Ballet of which Diana was a patron.
