Savage Audio Releases Macht Amplifier Head

Press release
Source: Marx Music Marketing, Inc.

Savage Audio “Macht” guitar amplifiers are now available in head configuration. Previously available only in combo configuration, Savage is producing the Macht head in response to demand from producers and engineers, dealers and players worldwide. The head version increases the versatility of the amp, allowing players to plug into a variety of speaker cabinets. Portability is made easier, with the Macht 12x head weighing in at only 22 pounds. The Macht head is also the first Savage amplifier to feature front-mounted controls.

The Savage Macht 12x and Macht 6 are handmade, Class-A guitar amplifiers that produce rich, dynamic, wide-ranging tones at reasonable volumes. The design mission of the Macht amplifiers has been to emulate the best characteristics of the small amplifiers of the ‘50s and ‘60s while providing updated tone, volume, and build quality. In a review of the original Macht 12 amplifier, Guitar Player magazine commented, “Few amps make the transition into distortion as smoothly as the Macht 12, which responds more like a musical instrument.”

While Savage Macht amps have enough power for live settings, they are especially popular with recording studios. The Macht 6 produces 6 watts via a single 6V6 tube. The Macht 12 produces a surprisingly loud 12 watts of power by use of two 6V6 tubes. The Macht 12x features the Savage Stage/Studio attenuator, which cuts overall output while increasing the range of tone and usability.

All Macht amplifiers feature the Savage tremelo circuit. Savage trem is unique in that it resides in the circuit’s second gain stage, avoiding unwanted loading of the signal. Additionally, Savage trem utilizes a Vactrol optocoupler that virtually eliminates switching noise. The Savage trem produces a broad range of usable tones from a tight ‘50s pulsation to a watery ‘60s wave.

Savage offers extension cabinets to match the Macht heads. Extensions are available in 1 x 15”, 1 x 12”, 1 x 10”, and 2 x 8” speaker configurations. The Macht 12x head with a 1 x 12’ extension cabinet stands 34” tall, providing a big sound without taking up a lot of space.

The Macht Head and Macht Extension cabinets are available now at authorized Savage dealers. Savage Audio has been producing handmade amplifiers since 1994. Pro players include Pearl Jam, REM, Doyle Bramhall Jr., Beck, Tom Waits, and many, many others.
