Legendary World Series hero and baseball MVP Kirk Gibson knows a lot about the important qualities that can turn a piece of wood into pure magic. Adding that knowledge to his passion for music, Gibson started a friendship with the Fender® Custom Shop in 2004 and continues to be regular visitor to the world-renown Corona, California, facility.

On a recent visit (Friday, May 25), Gibson posed for a photo with the Fender Custom Shop ’54 Stratocaster® Replica guitar that he purchased for his son, Kirk Robert Gibson (see photo below) in 2004.  This rare and prized ’54 Stratocaster is one of a Limited Edition series that was released during the 50th Anniversary of the ’54 Stratocaster guitar in 2004.  Also pictured is Fender Custom Shop Director, Mike Eldred.

For two decades now, the Fender Custom Shop has provided players and collectors worldwide with marvels of creativity, ingenuity and guitar artistry. From its humble beginnings in 1987 in Fender’s original Southern California home, the Custom Shop has grown to become the world’s preeminent maker of custom “instantly collectible” instruments; a dream factory that has made Fender’s finest the world’s finest.
