Roy Buchanan's Guild guitar

Roy Buchanan's Guild

A 1986 custom-built Guild electric guitar (photo) made for Roy Buchanan as part of a Buchanan-Guild endorsement deal will be auctioned by www.itsonlyrocknroll.com on June 2, 2007, though online bidding is already underway. Guild factory manager, Willie Fritscher, built the T-200RB customized guitar (serial #HK100023) that features jumbo frets, EMG pickups, and Grover tuners per Buchanan's instructions. In addition to the guitar, the auction includes both the original two-page endorsement contract that references the guitar's serial number and a photo of Buchanan playing the instrument on stage. Roy Buchanan, recognized as an accomplished guitarist in a several different styles, was the guitarist for the group (he was succeeded by Robbie Robertson) that ultimately became The Band. Buchanan passed away in 1988.

Also for sale are several autographed guitars, including one signed by all three members of Cream and another signed by the surviving members of the Doors, along with approximately 1,500 other pieces of rock and jazz memorabilia.
