XM Satellite Radio to Broadcast Blues Music Awards Live on May 10

XM Satellite Radio has entered into an agreement with The Blues Foundation for a live broadcast of the 2007 Blues Music Awards on May 10.  The broadcast will begin around 6:30pm Central and continue until the last notes are played somewhere around 1:00am!!! The 2007 Blues Music Awards, universally recognized as the highest honor given to Blues musicians, will feature world class performances by over 65 nominees who have decided the Memphis Cook Convention Center is the place to be on Thursday May 10.

Amid the announcements of Award winners, the show will feature more than 25 performances, many involving multiple nominees.

The Blues Music Awards are a night of music wrapped around 25 award presentations by guests such as British Blues legend John Mayall, former Major League Baseball player and manager Dusty Baker and his Blues buddy Elvin Bishop.

Highlights will include Otis Taylor’s banjo quartet, a Soul Blues Revue featuring an ensemble of Sugar Pie DeSanto, Frankie Lee, Johnny Rawls backed by the Jackie Payne/Steve Edmonson band; a once-in-a-lifetime harp blowout led by Mark Hummel and the full Bobby Rush show.

With an all-star lineup of nominees attending, May 10th will be a night of many surprises. Here is a partial list of nominees planning to attend:  Calvin Owens, Charlie Musselwhite, David "Honeyboy" Edwards, Dr. John, Duke Robillard, Eddie Shaw, Guitar Shorty, Guy Davis, Irma Thomas, John Mooney, Kid Ramos, Kim Wilson, Lil' Ed & The Blues Imperials, Magic Slim & the Teardrops, Marcia Ball, Nick Moss & The Flip Tops, Sam Carr, Tab Benoit, and Zora Young.

Attendees are treated to an elegant dinner seated with the nominees!
