Crash Announces Gallery Show and Newly Painted Guitar Bodies

Visual artist John "CRASH" Matos invites Modern Guitars readers to his upcoming NYC gallery show opening reception on April 19, 2007, at the Wooster Projects. The show is titled Kaleidoscope and features paintings, prints, and works on paper. Show details and photos of two recently created art guitars (photo) can be found on his Modern Guitars journal. Well known in the art world since the '80s, Crash came to the attention of guitar enthusiasts in the late '90s when Eric Clapton began performing with CRASH-painted Strats, one of which sold at the 2004 Christie's Clapton Crossroads Auction for $321,000. He recently completed a special run of 50 Fender Stratocasters bearing his graffiti-style artwork, which is chronicled in his journal.
