Jazzfest kicks off with a free outdoor concert on June 2 headlined by two great bands: the Duke Ellington Legacy Band led by Edward Kennedy Ellington II and the Ed Polcer Band. Weather permitting the concert will be held on Carriage House Field on the campus of Drew University in Madison. The concert begins at 6:00 pm. If it rains, the concert will move to Baldwin Gymnasium.

All of the Jazzfest events have been made possible by the generous support of corporations and local organizations, including Bank of America, Drew University, Toyota of Morristown, WBGO Jazz88FM, Jazzmobile and JazzTimes Magazine. The Hamilton Park Hotel on Park Avenue in Florham Park is the official festival hotel and offers special discount room rates for attendees. The hotel will also host a jazz buffet dinner with singer Carrie Jackson and her Trio on Saturday, June 9.

The New Jersey Jazz Society is a non-profit organization dedicated to the performance, promotion and preservation of jazz. Through concerts, outreach programs in schools and scholarships for young musicians, the Society is devoted to making jazz an integral part of New Jersey’s cultural life.

Jazzfest tickets at the gate on June 9 and 10 will be $45.00 per day or $85.00 for both days. For more information, advance sale discount tickets and hotel reservations log onto www.njjs.org or call 800-303-6557. Students are $10.00 and children 12 and under are free.
