As the official exclusive guitar sponsor of the John Lennon Songwriting Contest, Godin Guitars has provided the 2006 contest winners with their very own limited edition Godin Flat Five guitars. This is one of several prizes bestowed on these winners, who then become eligible for the Maxell Song of the Year which will be presented on May 17, 2007, in New York.

Twenty of the Grand Prize winners each received a finely crafted, North American made Godin Flat Five in trans blue with a flame top of the highest grade. The channeled hollow body of the Flat Five consists of a silverleaf maple center with poplar wings and a beautiful solid, flame maple top. Other features include a tune-o-matic bridge, mahogany neck with rosewood fingerboard, two Godin humbuckers and a 5-way switch to choose from the guitars exceptional tones. Each of these guitars has been personally signed by Robert Godin and includes a special Certificate of Authenticity.

The session I & II Grand Prize winners were the “cream of the crop” from twelve musical categories --- Children’s, Country, Electronic, Folk, Gospel, Hip-Hop, Jazz, Latin, Pop, R&B, Rock and World.
