2006 Blues Festival Guide

The annual Blues Festival Guide magazine, with 100,000 printed copies, will be available beginning April 23, 2007. Filled with information about hundreds of blues festivals, plus interesting blues editorial, this FREE magazine is a “must have” for any blues fan.

And these days there are a growing number of blues fans. Over the last couple of years, the United States has experienced an increase in the number of blues festivals; attendance at blues festivals is now estimated to exceed 2 million fans.

You don’t have to be a math whiz to know that with only 100,000 copies of the Blues Festival Guide magazine available you’ll want to act fast in order to secure your copy.

The 120+ U.S. blues societies are allocated one-half the print run. The remaining 50,000 copies are distributed at blues festivals, record stores, music stores, etc. Or, individual copies of the magazine can be mailed for a $7 fee which covers shipping and handling. To pre-order a copy visit www.bluesfestivalguide.com.

Readers hold on to their magazine throughout the year referring to the festival schedule time and time again.

In 2006, the Blues Festival Guide magazine was recipient of a “Keeping the Blues Alive” (KBA) award from The Blues Foundation. With more than 160 affiliated Blues organizations, and membership spanning the globe, the Foundation serves as the hub for the worldwide passion for Blues Music. A KBA award recognizes a recipient’s life-time achievement for activities that promote blues music, and contributions that have helped to “keep the blues alive”. To receive such a prestigious award in only the 4th year of operation was a real testament to the impact the Blues Festival Guide magazine has had on the industry and the growth in blues festivals and fans.  For more information about The Blues Foundation please visit www.blues.org.

“While the Blues Festival Guide already reaches three times more than the next largest blues publication, we are only at a fraction of demand,” explained Publisher, Kaati Gaffney. “To print more copies we have to raise advertising rates, or better yet find an underwriter or sponsor who will cover the additional production costs. We hope to have one in place for the 2008 edition of the magazine. For the right business it could be a unique and profitably opportunity.”

Meanwhile the Blues Festival Guide has expanded beyond just an annual magazine. It is additionally a website which includes a directory for all things blues (especially festivals), and a popular weekly newsletter with blues news, and a listing of upcoming festivals. Information on both is available at www.bluesfestivalguide.com.

For information on advertising in or sponsorship of the 2007 edition, contact Marketing Director, Nancy Edwards at 352-527-1680.
