Classical Guitar Concert for the Hearing Impaired

At 6:30 p.m. on February 22, 2007, the Hearing Loss Association of Greater Baltimore (website) will present a classical guitar program by Charles Mokotoff at The Hearing and Speech Agency (5900 Metro Drive, Baltimore, Maryland). Through the use of assistive listening loop technology (photo), the performance will be accessible for most, if not all, regardless of the listener's degree of hearing loss. Assistive listening systems deliver sound directly to the ear, are able to separate sounds from background noise, and reduce what's known as the "speech to noise" ratio. Mokotoff is, himself, hearing impaired, having become deaf at the age of 15. Despite this impairment, he has pursued a career as a professional musician. Mokotoff's program will include solo guitar music by Bach, Scarlatti, Yocoh, Barrios and others. Story.
