Daisy Rock's mission of helping more girls play guitar was recognized on NBC's “Today” show this morning (2/20/07)!

The “Today” show, watched by more than six million viewers weekly, is the second-longest running American television series and the highest-rated morning news and talk show in the United States (Wikipedia, 2007). In a segment called “Girls Rock With These Instruments,” hosted by “Today” show correspondent Maria Menounos, Daisy Rock President & Founder Tish Ciravolo talked about how Daisy Rock Guitars is helping to bridge the gender gap in rock & roll. Since starting the company in 2000, Daisy Rock has seen the number of girl guitarists jump from 5% to 10% in 2006. The story highlighted the fact that Tish’s idea of making instruments for girls that are lighter in weight and with thinner necks has caught on and is making a real impact on helping more girls play the guitar.

In the last six years, Daisy Rock has gone from a small company with a few guitar models, to a multi-million dollar guitar manufacturer with a full selection of guitars and basses for girls of all ages that are available in 26 countries worldwide.  Last October, Daisy Rock was inducted into the Museum of Making Music for creating the world's first Girl Guitar (the guitar is on permanent display in the Museum’s Southern California showroom). This exposure adds to a long list of stories, articles and appearances featuring Daisy Rock, including ones appearing on CNN, FOX, ABC, DISNEY CHANNEL, NICKELODEON, TIME, PEOPLE, and NEWSWEEK.

There are so many things I love about Daisy Rock Guitars…but there’s no greater feeling than reading letters from young girls who had no idea there were guitars out there for them…it’s as if learning how to play our guitars helps them discover their true selves. I always wonder how different my own life in music would have been had I grown up playing a Daisy Rock guitar. It’s exciting just to know that something I have created has made such a difference.

-- Tish Ciravolo, President & Founder of Daisy Rock Guitars

Video footage of “Girls Rock With These Instruments” is available for download at the “Today” show’s web site (www.msnbc.msn.com/id/3032633/).
