The Mermaid by Luthier Andy Manson on Display at Harrods

Europe's largest guitar exhibition, Born to Rock: The Life and Times of the Electric Guitar, is on display at Harrods in London (press release). Among the many featured instruments is luthier Andy Manson's unique masterpiece, The Mermaid, "a fully functional and playable life size musical sculpture". The nine pound, entirely hollow work of musical art, was a three year labor of love for Manson who, over his 35-year career, has built instruments for notables such as Jimmy Page, John Paul Jones, Ian Anderson, Martin Barre, Andy Summers, and, Mike Oldfield.

The Mermaid is available for sale from Harrods for £100,000 (half of the proceeds will go to Harvest Help).
