Albertville

Albertville

Skilled singer/guitarist, Corey Stevens will be performing songs from and releasing his 6th and newest CD Albertville on Friday, February 16, 2007, at The MYTH in Maplewood, MN (a suburb of Minneapolis/St. Paul). The event is also a “Blues for Food” drive benefiting the Minnesota Food Share.

Stevens is a resident of Southern California , but chose the twin cities area for his CD release party for several good reasons. It helps that one of Stevens biggest fan followings is in Minneapolis/St. Paul. But also significant was the availability of the premier nightclub The MYTH. When The MYTH learned this event could be used to support the Minnesota Food Share, they jumped on board graciously donating use of their $23 million venue.

And perhaps most important of all, it was Albertville the Central Minnesota town that served as the inspiration for the CD Albertville. While on tour a few years ago, Stevens was traveling the route between the twin cities and St. Cloud , which took him directly through Albertville . The town’s name caused him to reflect back on his idol and musical inspiration, Albert King. Then an idea hit him to record a CD in tribute to blues giant Albert King. Stevens’ idea is now a reality, and it seemed somehow natural to preview the CD in Minnesota .

Albertville is dedicated to Albert King. All the songs, with just one exception were either written or famously covered by Albert King. The CD is being released and distributed world-wide by Ruf Records.

Before his death in 1992, Albert King influenced many later blues guitarists including Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, Mick Taylor, Mike Bloomfield, Gary Moore, and especially Stevie Ray Vaughan, whom also covered many of King's songs.

Stevens met Albert King once, and saw King perform in concert many times, including a concert just one week before he died.

For the CD Release Party, Stevens will be backed by his 4-piece band which includes Hammond B-3 organ. Six video cameras will be capturing the excitement and the performance for a DVD release later in 2007.

Great musicians, popular songs, and an over the top venue will make for a good time on February 16, 2007 at the Corey Stevens CD Release Party and “Blues for Food” Benefit. Admission is 2 cans of food, or for VIP seating donate 10 cans of food. The MYTH is located at 3090 Southlawn Drive in Maplewood, MN. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., show time is 7:30 p.m. All food goes to the Minnesota Food Share www.gmcc.org/foodshare who restocks more than 260 food shelves around the state.
