PINK makes directorial debut

P!NK in her directorial debut shooting "Hello Bonjour" by Pretty Boys

GLAMOUR Vice President and Publisher Bill Wackermann announced Glamour Reel Music as an extension of its successful short film series, Glamour Reel Moments. The project aimed at promoting women in male-dominated entertainment fields will now turn to the recording industry. Glamour has teamed with multi-platinum LaFace recording artist P!NK to help create opportunities for women in the music business. She selected three artists on the rise for the Glamour Reel Music contest through which readers chose an all-female group to star in a music video directed by P!NK. Nissan North America (NNA) supported the making of the video that will launch on glamour.com/reelmusic on Wednesday, January 17, 2007.

Similarly to Glamour Reel Moments, which promotes women in Hollywood, Reel Music supports emerging female artists within the music industry. Two-time Grammy winner P!NK originally selected Sandi Thom, The Ditty Bops and the Pretty Boys to be part of the contest. Readers were asked in the September 2006 issue of Glamour to log on to its website to see, hear and learn more about the three budding female artists, and ultimately choose one they most wanted to see featured in a music video directed by P!NK.

Glamour Reel Music is continuing its mission to help promote emerging female talent in music and film,” says Wackermann. “We found the program also creates opportunities for A-list artists to get behind the camera as first-time directors,” he added.

Tens of thousands of readers voted -- the Pretty Boys were chosen as the Glamour Reel Music emerging artists. Their single “Hello Bonjour” was made into a music video directed by P!NK, and will premiere at a live event on Tuesday, January 16, 2007 at the “Nissan Live Sets on Yahoo! Music stage” on the FOX studio lot in Los Angeles. People everywhere can go to glamour.com/reelmusic the following day to see the video which will play for one month. While Glamour owns the content of the video, they are allowing Pretty Boys usage rights to enable them to showcase their talent and promote their work.

“We are excited to be involved with Glamour Reel Music,” said Jan Thompson, Vice President of Marketing, NNA. “Our partnership with Glamour exemplifies the evolution of Nissan’s Next Generation Shift_2.0 campaign – which celebrates creating opportunities for change. The spirit of a pure, uncompromising “shift” from the ordinary is inherent in all of these artists, which is the inspiration behind Next Generation Shift_2.0,” Thompson added.

GLAMOUR is the largest magazine published by Condé Nast Publications and has an average monthly circulation of over 2.4 million copies, outselling 98 percent of all consumer magazines on the newsstand. GLAMOUR, the most award-winning women’s magazine, reaches one in every ten women in the U.S. or more than 12 million monthly readers nationally.
