Gibson Guitar Offers Wide Range of Consumer Electronics at CES 2007

Gibson Guitar, the world’s premiere musical instrument manufacturer and leader in music technology, will introduce a wide range of new consumer electronics products being offered by the company for the first time at CES 2007 in Las Vegas, January 8-11, 2007 at booth CP1 (Central Plaza 1).

Combining innovation, quality and technology Gibson Guitar will be offering a new line of accessories to support state-of-the-art home theatre audio and video capabilities for today’s highly competitive consumer electronics world. Gibson will announce the availability of a line of products that are uniquely Gibson: the Gibson Les Paul Standard 512 MB USB 2.0 Flash Drive, the Gibson External USB 2.0 500 GB Hard Drive, the Signature Series Les Paul Standard 1GB USB 2.0 Flash Drive, Gibson Pure Gold Digital Audio Fiber Optic Cable, Gibson Pure Gold USB Cable, Gibson Pure Gold HDMI Cable, Gibson Pure DVD-R & DL Media, Gibson Pure CD-R Media, Gibson Pure Gold External USB 2.0 Triple Format DVD Recorder, Gibson Pure Surge Protectors 10 Outlet, and the Gibson Pure Surge Protector 4 Outlet. The offering continues to establish Gibson Guitar as a leader in the musical instrument and consumer electronics arena worldwide.

One of the most unique of these products is the Signature Series Les Paul Standard 1GB USB 2.0 Flash Drive – the first in a collector series of flash drives that are miniature replicas of iconic Gibson guitars. Each drive comes with a miniature case and USB cable for connecting the drive to a USB port. The 1959 Gibson Les Paul is the first edition to be offered. The Signature Series 1GB USB 2.0 specs include read speed up to 14MBps, write speed up to 6MBps, data retention up to 9 years and an LED indicator with read/write status. The USB extension cable is included.

Another flash drive, the Gibson Les Paul Standard 512MB USB 2.0 Flash Drive offers consumers the convenience of transferring and storing data, digital video, audio and multimedia files in a flip housing that eliminates the need for caps and protects the USB connector. In addition the Flash Drives offer the uniqueness of the Gibson Les Paul Standard guitar design which is recognized the world over as an icon for rock-n-roll. The Les Paul Standard 512MB USB 2.0 specs include read speed up to 14MBps, write speed up to 6MBps, data retention up to 9 years and an LED indicator with read/write status.

The Gibson Pure External USB 2.0 500 GB Hard Drive is packaged in unique Gibson designs and is a large 3.5” 500GB hard drive with 7,200 RPM. It has an 8MB cache size, supports USB 2.0 high speed data transfer (480MBps), backward compatible with USB 1.1. The universal adapter is included and it has an aluminum case body for optimal heat dissipation with a unique Gibson glow. Gibson Pure Gold USB cable helps achieve maximum performance from a USB device enabling clear, error free data transmissions. This cable allows connection directly to a computer providing quick and easy operation with a printer, scanner, external enclosure, USB hub, cell phone, digital camera, camcorder, PDA and MP3 player. The USB 2.0 cable (backward compatible with USB 1) supports speeds up to 480MBps and has 24K Pure harded gold plated contacts. It has maximum data signal integrity and features unique Gibson packaging with the company’s trademark Gibson headstock.

The Gibson Pure Gold HDMI Cable has the most advanced interface available providing high resolution sound and picture quality. Its specs include: silver plated pure copper conductors to provide excellent signal and bandwith, quad-layer high density shielding for quality protection against RF1 and EMI, nitrogen gas injected dielectric insulator, 24K hardened gold contacts, stabilized impedence and the highest uncompressed digital video signal transfer. Available lengths are 6.5’/2M and 13.1’/4M. It has the Gibson signature glow emblem on it also and comes in Gibson designed headstock packaging.

Gibson will also introduce the External USB 2.0 Triple Format DVD Recorder with the signature Gibson logo emblazoned on it. The recorder is manufactured to connect easily to any computer and lets you record hours of music, video, images and data at amazingly high speeds. It allows the consumer to burn to DVD+/-R Double Layer or DVD-RAM. It conveniently drags and drops files onto DVD-TAM repeatedly like a flash drive and stores up to 8.3GB per DVD DL disc. It has a built in universal power adapter and aluminum case body for optimal heat dissipation. It is plug and play hot swappable. The Gibson Pure Gold Digital Audio Fiberoptic Cable has advanced construction and ultra-high quality materials raising the standard for high performance interconnection by reducing jitter and maintaining superior digital signal fidelity. Spring load connectors ensure proper alignment and protective mesh exterior provides maximum durability and flexibility. Its 8’/2.4mm cable and durable metal connector is perfect for DVD/CD players, DACs, S/PDIF and Dolby Digital Audio Devices.

Gibson will also introduce the Gibson Pure Surge Protector series. The Gibson Pure Surge Protector 10 and 4 Outlet offerings have specifically designed power connections for home theatre and media center protection. Both come with a lifetime warranty, 24K Gold Plated coaxial cable connects and line protection. The 10 outlet surge protector features a built-in circuit breaker, coaxial cable protection, LED indicators, grounded outlets and labeled outlets. The 4 outlet surge protector features a power switch and audible alarm. Both come in Gibson designed packaging.

Gibson Pure Audio offers both DVD-R and DL Media and CD-R Media for the first time at this year’s CES show. Gibson Pure Video DVD-R & DL Media is best for archiving large volume data, digital video and multimedia files. Specs include 4.75GB/120 min 1x-16x and 8.5GB/215min 1x – 8x along with reusable high gloss metal tins and movie set prop style DVDs. The Gibson Pure CD-R Media is best for archiving music and multimedia files. Specs of the CD-R Media include 700MB/80 min 1x-52x with reusable black high gloss metal tins and retro vinyl record style CDs.
