John Legend

Grammy award winning vocalist, composer and pianists John Legend is one of several leading artists enthusiastically adopting the new CAD Trion microphones.

According to Legend's FOH Engineer Greg Mann, the multi-platinum artist's touring group is using the Trion 7000 on the guitar and Leslie tone cabinets, along with CAD E 70's on the hi-hats and overheads, CAD M 177's on Legend's piano, and CAD E 100's and KBM 412's on the kick drums during his sold -out tour.

The Trion 8000 is also John Legend's new choice of recording microphone. The 8000 is a multi-pattern, externally biased, large dual diaphragm studio tube condenser mic that produces the warm, rich and open classic tube sound ideal for studio vocal recordings in the digital realm. A 3-position polar pattern switch provides selection of omnidirectional, cardioid or figure-8 polar patterns for the versatility required by today’s professional recording situations.

Legend, born John Stephens in Springfield, Ohio, is a three-time Grammy winning (Best R&B album Get Lifted 2006, Best R&B Male Vocal Performance "Ordinary People" 2006 and Best New Artist 2006). The platinum selling Get Lifted featured collaborations with rapper and producer Kanye West and rapper Snoop Dogg. Legend has also played piano on Lauryn Hill's "Everything is Everything" and sung background vocals on Jay-Z's "Encore" and Alicia Key's "You Don't Know My Name" among others. A true crossover artist, Legend has appeared at Super Bowl XL in Detroit, the 2006 NBA All-Star game and performed "God Bless America" at 2006 Major League All Star Game.

In addition to Legend, other artists such as Richard Fortus, guitarist for Guns 'N Roses, and Rusty Anderson, guitarist for Paul McCartney, have also been choosing the Trion 7000 ribbon microphone for their amplifier cabinets.
