November 30, 2006Alive Records to Release Three New Rock AlbumsPress release
Black Diamond Heavies hail from the Southern States of America, but currently live as "vagrants/citizens of the world." Their music is urgent, raw and full of ass-shaking soul. The live show has been described as both "Pentecostal" and "Demon-Possessed". The Heavies debut release “Every Damn Time” has been gaining momentum on their quest to unleash their punk-ass blues on the world. The ten-song album features the tracks “Leave It In The Road,” “All To Hell,” a cover of Chet “Sweet Velvet C” Weise’s “Stitched In Sin,” and a cover of Paul “Wine” Jones’ “Guess You Gone and Fucked It All Up.” Touring internationally, the band has shared the stage with notable acts including Son Volt, The Immortal Lee County Killers lll, Thee Shams, T-Model Ford, Paul "Wine" Jones, Bob Log lll, and Scott H Biram. Black Diamond Heavies are a two-piece consisting of John Wesley Myers on bass keys, fender rhodes, organ, and vocals (left hand of rhythm, right hand of soul) and Van Campbell completing the lineup on drums and vocals. In a time when the term "rock n roll" is used as loosely as a prom dress at midnight, The Bloody Hollies are back once again to remind everyone what "rock n roll" is really all about. Their unique sound is truly one that needs to be heard to understand that this isn't just another throw back 60's garage yawnfest, or moppy haired riff crazy classic rock rip off. This is original American rock music that's too smart for the main stream, but too aggressive, licentious and blood thirsty for the emo crowd. No matter what side of the social circle you sit, your primal needs will eventually get the best of you, and you'll find your self banging on your dashboard to their new album "Who to Trust, Who to Kill, Who to Love". This is the follow up release to "If Footmen Tire You…" which was widely received as one of last year's best (including winning the San Diego Music Award for Rock Album of the Year). This new record is a graduation of sorts for a band that has steadily demonstrated maturity in songwriting, and a firm grasp of their influences. This album is the embodiment of the no frills, off the cuff, blues punk rock that The Bloody Hollies are admired for. They do what they do with skill, perfection, and flat out better than anyone else. The ten-song album features the tracks “Satanic Satellite,” “Delta Heart Attack,” “Hurry, Hurry, Hurry,” “C’est La Vie,” and “Ma Chérie.” The Bloody Hollies are Wesley Doyle (Guitar, Vocals, Harmonica), Joey Horgen (Guitar), Troy Troyus (Bass, Organ, Accordion) and Matthew Bennett (Drums). Radio Moscow is a psychedelic blues rock trio from Ames, Iowa, led by guitarist/drummer/singer/songwriter Parker Griggs, and this, their self-titled debut album, is produced and engineered by Black Keys guitarist/singer Dan Auerbach. Dan was given a demo by Parker after a Black Keys gig in Colorado, and he liked it so much that he offered to produce their debut album in his own studio, The Pie Co, in Akron OH. 21-year-old Parker Griggs originally cut his teeth playing garage punk, but his sound is also channeled through the blues, with experimental breakdowns, unpredictable tempo changes, crazy rave-ups and fuzzed out psychedelic guitar work; the result is an exciting and truly distinctive sound. Parker plays all the instruments on the album except for bass, played by Luke Duff , and slide guitar on "Deep Blue Sea" which is played by Dan Auerbach. Radio Moscow’s debut is a guitar album reminiscent of the pre-punk era, and it will certainly delight fans of the Black Keys and Comets on Fire alike. The ten-song album features the tracks “Frustrating Sound,” “Time Bomb,” “Fuse,” and “Mistreating Queen.” With the addition of female drummer Mayuko (Gore Gore Girls, Cyril Lords), the trio will be touring the U.S. all 2007. About Bomp!/Alive Records In 1994, Patrick Boissel moved his Alive Records imprint under the Bomp! umbrella and released the debut from then unknowns, the Black Keys. Currently, Alive Records is home to the Detroit’s infamous Soledad Brothers, Two Gallants, SSM, Trainwreck Riders, The Bloody Hollies, Radio Moscow and Black Diamond Heavies.
