Unique Baldwin Piano Painted by Peter Max to Debut in Las Vegas

Press release
Source: Rogers & Cowan

World-renowned artist Peter Max will unveil a one-of-a-kind Baldwin Baby 5’2” Grand piano, painted by the artist himself, on Friday November 24, 2006, at 6 p.m., as he kicks off his Thanksgiving weekend exhibition at The Art of Peter Max Gallery in the Forum Shops. Max will appear in person Friday and also on Saturday, November 25 from
1 to 4 p.m. to meet with fans and speak about the piano as well as other new artworks debuting at the gallery. Both events are open to the public.

Max is currently painting the Baldwin piano in his studio in New York, which will be completed and arrive just in time for the Thanksgiving weekend event. The sale of this top-of-the-line Max adorned Baldwin piano will not only provide a unique opportunity for a fortunate collector, but will benefit the Gibson Foundation and Peter Max’s Global Works Foundation charities as well.

For more than 100 years, Gibson Guitar and Baldwin Piano have made an unmatched commitment to musical excellence. This commitment has not only been to produce the world’s finest musical instruments, but also to support and promote music education. The Gibson Foundation focuses on making the world a better place for children and supports numerous initiatives around the globe. Founded by Max, Global Works provides funding to hundreds of charities annually from children’s art funds to animal rights groups, educational organizations and health-related foundations.

Peter Max is no stranger to painting large works of art. Earlier this year, he painted a Baldwin piano for Ringo Starr that they unveiled together on “Good Morning America”. Additionally, in 2000 Max painted the largest Boeing 777 Continental jumbo jet that flies around the world.

Beginning Monday, November 20, collectors can preview and purchase the installation of paintings that will debut during the in-gallery exhibition. For each painting purchased, Max inscribes a priceless personal dedication and drawing on the back of the artwork while in the Forum Shops gallery.

With an audience that is estimated to be in the millions, Max has a long-standing career as the most preeminent Pop artist in America and is well known for his paintings of the Statue of Liberty and his association with the United Nations. In addition to painting for numerous Heads of State including five American Presidents, Max has been designated as the Official Artist of five Super Bowls, five GRAMMY Awards, World Cup USA, The World Series, and the United Nations Earth Summit. From art that appeared on the first U.S. 10-cent stamp bearing the title “Preserve the Environment,” to 235 U.S. Border murals greeting millions of people entering America each year, Max captures America at its finest. With collections in more than 100 museums and galleries worldwide, Max has been successively called a Pop Icon, Neo Fauvist, Abstract Expressionist and the United States’ “Painter Laureate.”

The Art of Peter Max Gallery, located at The Forum Shops at Caesars Palace in the new expansion Terrace Level, is one of only two galleries worldwide exclusively featuring the artwork of Peter Max. The unique collection of original paintings in the gallery is curated by Max himself, offering the widest assortment of paintings to the great cross-section of art collectors and enthusiasts who visit and reside in Las Vegas.
