The Crazy Rockers, Jazzmasters and Indo-Rock

No, it's not indie rock, it's IndoRock, Indo-Rock, or a few variations thereof, a '50s-'60s Dutch subculture phenomenon that's making a splash on YouTube. Indo-Rock refers to the music created by Dutch-Indonesian musicians who emigrated to the Netherlands in the '50s. The sound is guitar-driven, often instrumental, and features Fender Jazzmasters, Gibson Les Pauls, and various guitars from Höfner, Framus, Eko, and Egmond. According to Piet Muys, in 1961 the Jazzmaster became the most popular and served as a status symbol among Indo-Rockers.
