Gibson Custom Adds Elliot Easton SG to Inspired By Series

The Custom division of Gibson Guitar has added a fifth instrument to its Inspired By Series, the Elliot Easton SG. The series was launched earlier this year with the introduction of the Jimi Hendrix Pscychedelic Flying V, a meticulous recreation of the Gibson Flying V Hendrix painted and used on tour in Europe in 1967 and 1968. Other guitars in the series include: John Sykes Les Paul Custom; Peter Frampton Les Paul Special; and, Roy Orbison ES-355.

Easton, well known as one of the founding members of The Cars, is a graduate of the Berklee College of Music and currently with the group, The New Cars, featuring Todd Rundgren and original Cars member Greg Hawkes. The Inspired By Easton SG, essentially based upon a mix between an early '60s SG Custom and a light-weight SG Standard, is the result of a close collaboration between Easton and the Gibson Custom Shop. Among its interesting features are an engraved Tiki graphic on the Maestro cover and engraved signatures on the truss rod cover and fingerboard spacer near the neck pickup.
