September 27, 2006Manuel Barrueco Receives Latin GRAMMY NominationOn September 26, 2006, the Latin Recording Academy announced the nominees for the 7th Annual Latin GRAMMY Awards, which will be bestowed at an award ceremony on November 2, 2006, at Madison Square Garden (for the first time, tickets to the event will be available to the public). Nominees include Manuel Barrueco (Best Classical Album), Luis Salinas (Best Instrumental Album), Cacho Tirao (Best Folk Album), and Vicente Amigo (Best Flamenco Album). Barrueco was nominated for Concierto Barroco, which includes two pieces written for him by Roberto Sierra: "Concierto Barroco" and "Folías". "Concierto Barroco" represents an imaginary jam session among Baroque composers Scarlatti, Handel, and Vivaldi and was inspired by Cuban author Alejo Carpentier’s novel Concierto Barroco.
