Chainsaw Awards Nominations Announced

Press release
Source: Rogers & Cowan

fuse, the nation’s only viewer-influenced music television network and Fangoria Entertainment, the number one brand in horror for the past 25 years, have announced that the first-ever televised fuse Fangoria Chainsaw Awards will be held Sunday, October 15th at the Orpheum Theater in Los Angeles. An ideal attraction through which viewers can embrace the Halloween spirit, this premiere award show spotlighting the best in horror themed cinema, music and television will premiere on fuse Sunday, October 22nd at 9:30 p.m EST.

The editors of Fangoria and Fangoria.com, the leading horror magazine and online destination, joined forces with the music experts at fuse to develop a host of categories and nominees, from the straight forward to the sublimely offbeat. The awards will honor the best of modern horror themed cinema and television and its growing influence on popular music, from the looks of the stars to the music videos directly inspired by seminal scare flicks.

The leader in film category nominations is Hostel with six, followed by Snakes on a Plane, Underworld: Evolution and The Hills Have Eyes with five nods each, while Final Destination 3, The Descent, Silent Hill, The Devil’s Rejects, Slither and King Kong each earned four nominations. Performers nominated in the music categories include Gnarls Barkley, AFI, 30 Seconds to Mars, My Chemical Romance, Fall Out Boy, Evanescence and Red Hot Chili Peppers. fuse viewers and horror fans alike will have the chance to help determine the winners by voting at www.fuse.tv between September 1st and, naturally, Friday, October 13th.

This year’s fright-fest, the first-ever televised, will feature a “black carpet” pre-show with a critique of the fashions of the arriving star nominees and presenters, live performances by some of the biggest names in pop, rock and hip-hop as well as a “Gala of Gore” post-show, an after-party attended by music and film A-listers. Cyber-savvy music and horror fans can follow the action and get many extras by heading to www.fuse.tv and www.Fangoria.com, before, during and after the telecast. Additional announcements including hosts, performers and presenters will be forthcoming.

“Our viewers are as down with Freddy as the are with Fall Out Boy, so this horror-meets-music summit is the ultimate television kick-off to Halloween week,” said Catherine Mullen, EVP and General Manager of fuse.

“Over the years, the horror genre continues to be a powerful force in music, film, television and entertainment,” said Thomas DeFeo, the President of Fangoria Entertainment. “It made perfect sense to join forces with fuse to create a credible and compelling award show honoring the best in the business, while remaining true to the genre’s loyal fanbase.”
